The Zen of Canal House

A harmony of natural elements and modern design, this project encapsulates our innovative approach to rejuvenating homes and creating a serene, Zen-like atmosphere.

Through a careful transformation of an existing pool area, we introduced eco-friendly elements that blend seamlessly with the existing aesthetic of this Gold Coast canal home. A testament to our commitment to balancing style and sustainability.

Indoor-Outdoor Zen Transformation

The image provides a view of the transformed outdoor entertaining area, a space perfect for poolside relaxation and gatherings on warm days. The new paving, a feature stone wall, and timber columns come together to create an inviting and relaxing space that naturally extends from the kitchen area.

The design aims to form a connection between indoor living and the outdoor serenity of the canal. This aligns with the clients' brief of providing short-stay guests with a tranquil space to unwind by the pool and enjoy the waterfront location. The focus on eco-friendly elements also showcases our commitment to sustainable design, as is evident from the seamless integration of natural elements in the overall aesthetic of this Gold Coast canal home.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Transition

In the Canal House project, we took an under-utilised slope and converted it into a tiered garden with built-in seating. The first image displays the large staircase, which provides easy access to this new area, and the tiered seating and garden area, which not only serves as a relaxation spot but also as a storage area for water activity equipment. This transformation reinforces the indoor-outdoor connection, serving as a tranquil retreat for guests staying at this waterfront rental home.

The second image portrays the peaceful view of the canal from the new outdoor area. The serene view of the waterway highlights the close proximity of the area to the water's edge, inviting guests to enjoy the tranquillity of the waterscape and experience the unique charm of waterfront living. This new perspective brings a Zen-inspired, serene atmosphere to the property, complementing the eco-friendly design approach of this project.

Zen-Inspired Outdoor Entertaining Space

The final image presents a holistic view of the newly developed outdoor entertaining area. It highlights the harmonious integration of different design elements, such as stone pavers, a stack stone feature wall, and a triple timber column made from hardwood. These elements, combined with the serene view of the canal and the pool, create an inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and socialising.

The design draws a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors, perfectly aligning with the clients' brief to provide a space where guests could relax by the pool, enjoying the canal view. The strategic use of materials adds a touch of Zen-inspired aesthetics, enhancing the overall tranquility of the space.

Every element of this transformation was meticulously planned and executed to ensure that the outdoor space not only became more functional, but also blended effortlessly with the natural beauty of its surroundings. This approach embodies our commitment to creating eco-friendly, sustainable designs that rejuvenate spaces while preserving their original essence.
